Stop apps from accessing your Mac's camera and microphone. Mojave extends app permissions to include the camera and microphone. You can review which apps have permission to access your Mac's.

I tested out this issue, and I got microphone permissions to work just fine in MacOS Mojave. What I did was to start a microphone test using the Blizzard Bnet launcher app. Doing so caused an “allow this app to access the microphone?” OS dialog to pop up. Since the update to Mojave, I can no longer add any apps to the mentioned Preferences pane. For example, when going to the 'Accessibility pane ('Allow the apps below to control your computer') and adding an app via the + button or by drag & drop from the Finder, the action is simply ignored and the list stays empty. Starting with mojave, apps cannot use your microphone without asking for permission first. If you're on a relatively recent iMac or Macbook, your machine has a t2 chip that, starting with Mojave, is used to enforce those permissions, even for apps that use legacy interfaces. The mic works normally on my iphone, but since Mojave it doesn't work on my mac in certain apps (gaming apps). It does work on mac in Skype, for example. It prompted the 'allow access' after opening Skype for the first time. Best quicktime app mac. Mojave didn't prompt when opening gaming apps, even when I did a clean re-install of those apps and when they were not.
